Demus has been operating since 1962 in the decaffeination and dewaxing of green coffee and in the production of raw natural caffeine.
The plant is located in the industrial area of Trieste, one of the most important European terminals in the sector. Over the years, Demus has experienced continuous growth thanks to investments in research (the company owns several industrial patents and has published numerous studies in prestigious industry journals) and thanks to the continuous development of its knowledge of decaffeination systems and its focus on the most current issues demanded by the market (quality, environment, and safety, boasting ISO 9001 certification obtained in 1999 and ISO 14001 certification obtained in 2010, as well as FSSC 22000 certification obtained in 2020).
These strengths have guided the company toward a pursuit of total quality that has allowed it to grow and hold a significant market share, expanding its interests well beyond national borders.
In December 2019, Demus S.p.A. merged with DNA Analytica S.r.l. and Demus Lab S.r.l., continuing to develop its activities as an Innovative Company.

Based on the exclusive use of water and activated carbon, the Demus Aqua system allows for the selective removal of caffeine, preserving the water-soluble aromatic substances in coffee to the maximum extent possible.
